MANILA, Philippines – Ride-share app Uber is looking at rolling out its service in Angeles City in Pampanga to offer more people another convenient transport option.

In a statement, Uber said it recently held a meeting with the local government of Angeles City to discuss the potential launch of its services in the area.

“We’re always looking for opportunities to keep the Philippines moving. We can’t wait to bring Uber to Angeles City so we can provide its residents and visitors with a safe, convenient and reliable transport option,” Uber Philippines general manager Laurence Cua said.

Angeles City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan expressed support to the plan to bring Uber’s services to the city.

Pamintuan said residents and tourists currently have limited mobility options.  “Uber’s services will fill a gap and serve a clear public need,” he said.

Founded in 2009, the ride-share app is currently available in more than 600 cities worldwide.
